How To Join Us

We warmly welcome new members. It doesn’t matter whether or not you have any previous experience, but you do need to have plenty of enthusiasm.

Why not be part of our next show, King Arthur Smashes IT by Philippa Smith (19-21 November 2026)

This original production is a hilarious, high-energy, time-travelling pantomime packed with magic, mayhem, jousting, jesting and a few surprises from the future!

Read-through on Monday 6 July, Auditions on Thursday 16 July – both at 7.30 pm at Haslingfield Village Hall.
Rehearsals start on 31 August; we rehearse on Mondays & Thursdays at Haslingfield Village Hall from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Should you be interested in an on-stage role, here is a list of the main characters:

Lady of the Lake (Lolly) – Ethereal and graceful when in water, bedraggled and soggy when out of it. (f)
Merlin – the good wizard. Ancient, with a very, very long beard.(m)
Morgana – Arthur’s cousin. A wicked, shape-shifting witch.(f)
Sir Mordred the Traitor/Professor Moranmaw Screentime – a bad knight. Cowardly and mean. (m)
Sir Lancelot Looker – a knight on the tiles. A bit of a lothario, his own greatest fan.(m/f)
Sir Galahad Gloomy – a dark and stormy knight. His glass is three quarters empty! (m/f)
King Arthur – a good knight, ready to save the world.(m/f)
Guinevere – The knight manager – the power behind the throne. Has eyes only for Arthur.(f)
Migraine – Arthur’s Mum, and the Dame. She has a handbag dragon, the lovely HotPuff. (m/f)
Sir Uther Pendragon – a comfortable knight, Arthur’s dad, and an all round good sort. (m)
Chuckles the Comely Comic – does what it says on the tin.(f)

There are also plenty of Chorus roles.

Also, we are currently actively seeking more stage crew for this show and future productions. Stage Crew play a vital role during the last month before the show and during show week – 14 – 21 November for this show.

Back-Stage and Production Team

If you are interested in being part of the back-stage and production team, there are plenty of people who will be pleased to show you the ropes. Examples of back-stage work are:

Set-building, which includes making various items for the stage, painting the set and prop-making.
Costume-making: if you are good with a sewing machine, your skills will certainly come in handy.
Stage crew: which involves changing the set during the performances – another crucial back-stage role.

On Stage

If you are interested in going on stage and have no previous experience, the chorus for our November show is always a good place to start. However, if you have trodden the boards before, you are welcome to come to any of our auditions to try for any role in one of our productions.

Rehearsals start two to three months prior to each production and take place on Monday and Thursday nights at Haslingfield Village Hall.

Membership

All adult members pay an annual membership subscription of £15 per year. This goes towards the funding of our productions, and enables you to purchase advance priority tickets and participate in our shows – either on-stage or as part of the Production Team.
