Why not Get Involved in our May 2026 Show?
We will be performing two one-act comedies on 15-16 May at Haslingfield Village Hall:
Trapped by Michael Green:
A hilarious send-up of a country house thriller, the play takes place in the 1940s in the traditional home of Major and Mrs Thompson. A play within a play, the cast try their best to put on a successful show – it’s just that everything keeps going wrong!
6 Female Roles
3 Male Roles
The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard
A funny and thought-provoking play parodying Agatha Christie-style murder mysteries, the play focuses on two pretentious theatre critics, Birdfoot and Moon, as they observe a fictional whodunnit. Their commentary blurs with the unfolding drama, as they get unintentionally drawn into the mystery themselves!
5 Male Roles
3 Female Roles
Read-through: Monday, 16 February 2026
Auditions: 26 February 2026
Both will take place at 7.30 pm at Haslingfield Village Hall (just six miles south of Cambridge)
We rehearse every Monday and Thursday evenings at Haslingfield Village Hall. Rehearsals will start in March.
Back-Stage and Production Team
If you are interested in being part of the back-stage and production team, there are plenty of people who will be pleased to show you the ropes. Examples of back-stage work are:
- Set-building, which includes making various items for the stage, painting the set and prop-making.
- Costume-making: if you are good with a sewing machine, your skills will certainly come in handy.
- Stage crew: which involves changing the set during the performances – another crucial back-stage role.

On Stage
If you are interested in going on stage and have no previous experience, the chorus for our November show is always a good place to start. However, if you have trodden the boards before, you are welcome to come to any of our auditions to try for any role in one of our productions.
Rehearsals start two to three months prior to each production and take place on Monday and Thursday nights at Haslingfield Village Hall.
To find out more about what is involved, do come along to any of our auditions and chat to any of our members in the tea break. Details of auditions and script read-throughs are available in the Latest News section of our Home Page.
