2023
In February, we hosted the Festival Players on tour Show, The Rhythm of Life.
2022
In July, we put on a rehearsed reading of a new play, Harmony, which was co-written by one of our members.
In May, we created a 1950s house on Haslingfield Recreation Ground as part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
March saw a trip to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Arts Theatre, Cambridge.
2021
In November a trip was organised to see the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, with costumes by a former member of the group.
In October, we hosted the Festival Players on tour show, Let the Sunshine In.
In September, we participated in the 100 year anniversary of Haslingfield Badcock Recreation Ground, with some improvised drama and songs & dances, as well as a display of our photo archives & costumes.
2020
In March, we put on a rehearsed play reading of Travels with my Aunt by Graham Greene (adapted for the stage by Giles Havergal).
In January, we saw Cinderella at the Arts Theatre, Cambridge.
2019
In February, we hosted the Festival Players on Tour performance of Someone in the Crowd at Haslingfield Village Hall.
In January, some members saw My Fair Lady at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, performed by CAOS.
2018
In June, we ran two complimentary Skills Workshops for those interested in being in our Production Team.
2017
The Blue Skies Big Band entertained us again – this time raising funds for Parkinsons UK.
We also hosted a Poetry Evening. Relaxing around cafe-style tables, members of the audience came to the front, in turn, and read some wonderful poems.
2016
We hosted the Blue Skies Big Band again at Haslingfield Village Hall and were delighted to have raised £1,048 for the Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
2015
We hosted our first Jazz concert by the Blue Skies Big Band at the Village Hall, Haslingfield. The concert, in aid of the Ebola Crisis Fund, featured a wide range of Swing, Dixie and popular Jazz music from this wonderful 15-piece band.
2014
On 11 November 2014 we joined with Haslingfield Village Society to commemorate WW1 in Cambridgeshire. The evening, entitled Honour, Humour and Resilience, comprised songs, readings and stories. A collection for the British Legion was held at the end of the evening.
2013
We organised a members’ trip to Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
We shared an evening of Lyrics and Letters with Kirsty Body’s ladies choir, the Harmonia Singers at Haslingfield Village Hall.
2012
We went to Matthew Bourne’s Ballet The Nutcracker, at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
At the Haslingfield Diamond Jubilee Celebration, in June, we created the 1950s with three scenarios: The 50s Living Room; The Wash Day; The School.
2011
We went on a trip to Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella ballet at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
As part of the Haslingfield Village Society’s Village History Weekend – we displayed the HLT Archives – which included photos of shows and other material going back over 21 years.
An Improvised Musical was performed by several youth members of the drama group to raise money towards the annual CVC exchange visit to Edendale School, near Pretoria, South Africa.
We collaborated with Arts in Cambridge on Tour to bring professional theatre to Haslingfield – Bad Apple Theatre Company’s wonderful musical play: Back to the Land Girls.
2010
The year included: Reading of Extracts from Haslingfield School Logbook, 1875-1914, a trip to the Ballet, a Theatre Visit and a Poetry Evening.
We also visited the Open-Air Theatre at Emmanuel College to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream and went to the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds to see The Two of Us by Michael Frayn.
