ABOUT HASLINGFIELD LITTLE THEATRE Background In 1987, members of the Parent Teachers Association at Haslingfield Primary School put on Dick Whittington. This was followed by Peter Pan a year later, and then in 1989, the new Haslingfield Little Theatre produced its first production, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Our Shows During the last 22 years, we have put on two shows a year - usually a family show/pantomime in the winter, and a play in the spring (see Past Productions) and are well known for the high quality of our productions. Our Members Members of Haslingfield Little Theatre span all generations, and include:
Events We also hold regular Friday night events which include poetry evenings, play readings, songs from the shows, and theatre visits. We are part of Arts in Cambs on Tour. In 2010, The Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds Rural Tour performed The Two of Us by Michael Frayn - four short, funny and touching pieces, performed by just two very versatile actors. In 2009, we had professional performers Shoo Shoo Baby take us through the history of cabaret with great voices and humour; and in 2008, we had the hilarious comedian and singer, Mervyn Stutter. In 2008, we performed a "live" Punch & Judy act at the Haslingfield Village Fete - a memorable experience for both cast and audience! For information on our 2011 events, please click here. Charity In 2000, we became a registered charity - with the objective to do our utmost to encourage and develop the performing arts in the area. Since then, we have raised funds for the Village Centre extension, a permanent stage, lighting and sound equipment. The extended Village Centre with its excellent facilities is now used by us and the local community for jazz evenings, discos, art exhibitions and much more.
